Sharing more music -- Hometown, by Double Double

The kids have done it again... Today Double Double released their entire collection of new tunes, and as a proud mama, I'm sharing the link to Hometown, their EP, here

Left on the Light tells the story of a waning relationship. So Fine is about a couple who keep flying off in different directions and who look forward to being together. Lucky is a reminder to appreciate what we have (a favourite theme of mine here in these moodlings!) and Downtown Girl just rocks and rolls.

Enjoy! And have a good weekend!

Talent

Seems to me that kids today possess more talent than my friends and I had at the same age. Or maybe because they've been raised in a world with social media, they're less shy about sharing that talent? Whatever the case, I delight in their creative efforts, and hope to share more of their talent here in my moodlings.

The young guitarist featured in the video below teamed up with a vocalist from Scotland, and what you see is a pretty cool international collaboration that features some lovely images of Edmonton, too. Well done, Don and Scott. Love those harmonies!

Scott Cook

Last week, I had the good fortune to attend a Scott Cook concert in my neighbourhood. Scott is a sweet guy, a talented singer-songwriter artist/writer/photographer/comedian with a deep philosopher's soul (his most recent CD has a gorgeous 136 page booklet attached, featuring his many talents). The thought-provoking song below especially struck me -- his message really resonates every time I hear it.

If you get a chance to hear Scott Cook sometime, take advantage of it...

Simple Christmas idea #17 -- Give homemade coupon gifts

Time/talents are treasures too...

Are you stuck for ideas for certain people on your gift list? How about giving a little thought to something you might be able to offer them other than material stuff? Would that someone appreciate some light housekeeping? A regular coffee date? Some babysitting? Some baking? Computer help? Something else that you can offer?

My kids caught onto this idea early in their lives. I have received many hug coupons over the years, as well as certificates entitling me to art works and odd jobs. And the thing about coupons is that they can cover a huge range of possibilities that are only limited by the imagination and willingness of the giver. One year I gave a friend the promise of a handwritten letter each month. Turns out it was a gift I enjoyed just as much as my friend did!

Who would appreciate a gift of your time, talent or special skills this Christmas?
